One Little Word: May {Link Up}

Hello May!

Today I'm linking up with Aubrey, Suzanna, and Ashley. I'm so excited to welcome May, but anxious, too. This month is very busy for me/us. We have plans with family at the end of the month and I am turning in my FINALIZED version of my thesis. This means that I still have to: analyze my data, write the final two chapters of my paper, and do all the formatting which is something I am TOTALLY dreading. I am entertaining the idea of paying someone to format for me. I need someone who knows how to format the navigation bar on Word and also knows how to work with adding tables, objects, figures, captions, --all while keeping everything else in place. If you are that person or you know someone--let me know. Zach thinks he can help me, but I still think I might need to get outside help. Anyway, with so much going on this month, I feel that some of these goals are unlikely to happen--others are just par for the course. We'll see. I'll be doing a lot of juggling, praying, and looking forward to June. I don't want to wish away May, though, so here are some goals to MAKE the most of it.

You can see how I did on my April goals here.

*Buy curtain rods and hang curtains
*JaiseAnn's room (pillows, blankets, letter "J," hang blessing dress)
*Print off pictures from our trip to Seattle (before JaiseAnn was born) and Charleston (before we were married) to add to our gallery wall in the kitchen

*Buy bird food and hang bird feeder (make a second feeder) hang humminbird feeder, too
*Finish JaiseAnn's baby books
*Peppa Pig activity
* 2 play dates

*Do something fun and different for date night
*Do something intentionally thoughtful for Zach each week
*Time with Zach each night
*Play a card or board game together one night

*No refined sugar treats
*Eliminate nighttime snacking
*Strength training 2 times per week (while getting in the habit)
*Find a deal on a bike trailer for my Mother's day gift
*Reduce body checking behaviors to twice a week (I want to get this number to zero someday--sooner than later. I am embarrassed to admit this on my blog-I feel very vulnerable in sharing this goal, but for true mental/emotional health this is something that needs to be addressed more than any of the other goals I have for health.)

*Write a conference schedule
*Share conference schedule on blog
*Activity Days and Nursery Mother's Day activities
*Put up a scripture to reflect on on the fridge

*Finish thesis
*Set date for thesis defense (communicate date with office at college)
*Finalize plans for next year (apply for one job)

How Did I Do, April?

Since tomorrow is the One Little Word Linkup and I feel like the posts are way too long if I touch base on April and fill in my goals for May, I'm just going to update you really quickly on April.  Tomorrow you can see my new goals for May. If you have any posts about your goals for the year, please link up. We'd love to read and cheer you on!

Here we go!

*Buy curtain rods and hang curtains (the curtains I bought were way out of our initial budget, but I loved we have to wait and get the rods. I'm hoping this month so it's going on here.) Did NOT do. So I decided that I needed new workout shoes...badly. I use them every day and I needed a new pair. So the budget went toward those this month. May, new curtains coming at you
*JaiseAnn's room
*Print off pictures from our trip to Seattle (before JaiseAnn was born) and Charleston (before we were married) to add to our gallery wall in the kitchen
*A print for one of 3 places in our house we want them.
So none of this happened. Big fail on making the home more homey this month.

*Make and hang bird feeders So we painted ONE bird feeder, but haven't hung it yet.
*Invite for 2 play dates
*Finish JaiseAnn's baby books (seriously, this one is on here each month. I hope I can really complete it this month) Oh my gosh, you guys! I still haven't done this yet. I'm putting it in my calendar and think I might actually finish it next month. We will see. I'm really really close.

*Spend time with Zach each night

*Strength training two days a week I did this-and felt really good about it, but I stopped feeling sore after my workouts about two weeks into this--even though I changed up the workouts each week. I'm not sure what that means. I tried to talk to my brother about it, but he and I have different outlooks on exercise and health in general so I left that conversation just as confused as ever. So if any of you out there can tell me. Do I need to feel sore? If I feel fatigued and tired during the workout is that enough to build more muscle? I don't like strength training--I love cardio exercises--in many different forms I've learned--so I am new to this world.
*Eliminate excess sugar This was a huge success for me overall. I learned a lot and am following this through next month.

*Review Priesthood session of conference talks and then write up a schedule for studying the talks from May-October (more to come on this I hope) Still need to write up my schedule
*Continue listening to podcasts on Mormon Channel
*Go to the temple

*Apply for two jobsI also interviewed for two jobs this month and sort-of interviewed for a third. I got one job and am waiting to hear back on the other two. One of them I *think* I really really want. All are super part-time and from home...and in the field of education. I honestly am just taking it all a day at a time and am feeling incredibly grateful that I can even apply for jobs like these right now.
*Finish conducting experiment
*Analyze data Just now starting to analyze--it will be done by the end of May, though, because I have to have my whole entire paper turned in by May. So yeah, don't be surprised if my goals for next month are pretty slim.

How did April treat you?
